I know that pretty much everyone who reads this blog is friends with me in real life, so this may be somewhat anti-climactic, but--it is with great joy that I want to let y'all know we are expecting baby #2 in August!! I am a little past due with posting this to the blog (we let the cat out of the bag a couple weeks ago), so I will jump right in to letting y'all know how it's going so far, if you are interested!
How Far Along: 14 Weeks
Size of baby: Around the size of a navel orange. 4.5 inches and 3 oz.
Total Weight Gain/Loss: Gained around 4 lbs I think. Will go to the doctor tomorrow and know for sure
Maternity Clothes: still wearing my regular clothes but have started using that awesome thing called a BellyBand on some pants (if you aren't familiar and are pregnant, look it up!), or the old ponytail holder through the buttonhole trick on my jeans
Gender: We don't know yet but hopefully will find out in the next month or so
Movement: I know it is very early, but I am sure that I felt the baby move last night. I was lying very still on the couch. I think the second time around it is easier to distinguish between a moving baby and a rumbling tummy.
Sleep: not the greatest. I wake up a lot in the night and sometimes have crazy dreams! But at least that makes for interesting memories in the morning!
What I miss: Being able to breathe normally. I have been very short of breath this go-round. But that's ok! It is all for a good cause. :)
Cravings: Sour candy and frozen fruit
Best Moment this week: feeling this precious child move! I can't wait til he or she gets a little bigger and I can really feel it well. I love lots of things about being pregnant, but that is probably my favorite.
Symptoms: as I mentioned above, shortness of breath is the main one. Congestion, insomnia.
"Certainly you made my mind and heart;you wove me together in my mother’s womb.
14 I will give you thanks because your deeds are awesome and amazing.
You knew me thoroughly;
15 my bones were not hidden from you,
when I was made in secret
and sewed together in the depths of the earth.
16 Your eyes saw me when I was inside the womb.
All the days ordained for me
were recorded in your scroll
before one of them came into existence."
Psalm 139: 13-16
It is pretty amazing to know that the Lord's knitting and forming and sewing is happening right inside my body. It is also extremely humbling and yet exhilarating to be the vessel for a miracle. I do not take it for granted. I do not consider these things without considering the fact that there are many who struggle with infertility. If that is you--I do not know why I am pregnant and you are not. I certainly have done nothing to deserve this blessing. However--I do know that the Lord knows the plans that he has for you--and they are to prosper and not to harm you. To give you hope, and a future. I do not have all the answers-but I do know that for sure.
I am so thankful for this precious child, and I look forward to sharing this pregnancy with y'all over the next few months!
